Understanding Wind Rose on Garmin MFD's

WIND ROSE

The wind rose is the 360-degree circle around the boat on your chartplotter screen. The two arrows show your true (orange) and apparent (blue) wind angles. This is similar to the wind gauge but works as an overlay on the chart.

This feature is helpful because some sailors prefer to have a full screen showing the chart so they can keep looking for destinations or hazards. If they didn’t have the wind rose feature, they would need a split screen — like the image shown — which can feel cluttered on smaller chart plotters.
